Cherry on Top

Cherry Martinez has proven through sheer determination and unwavering ambition that she has earned her position at the top of her game as one of New York City’s leading radio personalities on Power 105.1. Prior to her arrival at Power 105, Cherry had attended Boston’s Emerson College where she attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and then went on to hold positions at various top-tier radio stations alongside notable seasoned veterans of radio. Her experiences at these stations and at Power 105 are what has undoubtedly prepared her to conquer the 10pm-2am time slot during the Power 105 After Hours show which has become known as “Sexy in the City.”
Now that she has successfully established herself in the urban radio market, Cherry is looking to the future and believes that a person in her position has the ability to give back to women who have firm goals and dreams much like she had as an aspiring radio personality. She has already begun recruiting women to be part of a group that she has dubbed “The Cherry Girls.” Through a series of casting calls, Cherry has been vehemently searching for an eclectic group of women who are sexy, smart, and determined to be independently successful by engaging people with their distinct and unique personas.
Each episode of the show will focus on 12 specifically chosen Cherry Girls and the individual tasks they are undertaking. What will separate these challenges from other shows is that the girls will be randomly broken up into teams and then required to choose a team leader; however, the girls will also be faced with one extra challenge, a RealCare Baby simulation doll. The closest thing to a real infant, the doll will pose as another distraction for the girls who will be striving to complete their given tasks while at the same time trying to care for a child. The purpose of the doll is to show how Cherry was able to succeed in her chosen career path while still maintaining a healthy relationship with her family.
For the first episode, the girls will be evenly divided into 3 teams of 4 but as the show progresses and the girls are voted off, the balance will become uneven; in result, leading to one or more teams carrying a heavier workload and creating a nesting ground for drama. Their tasks will be dealt during the opening segments of the show which, for this pilot episode, will revolve around the girls retrieving all of the necessary information to put together a solid article for The Source magazine. The group that succeeds at finishing their task in a given timeframe will be rewarded with a prize; this prize is still to be decided and will offer an incentive for finishing the tasks; inevitably, conflict is bound to arise between the girls and the relationships they have developed will be tested as they go head to head each week. A team that fails to care for their RealCare Baby will be penalized with the automatic expulsion of the team leader from the show.
Cherry Martinez’s story will also be included in-between the progression of the Cherry Girls story. Since the show is inspired by her life it is essential to the narrative to include her own professional endeavors and quite possibly her personal life. The inclusion of personal experiences may sound invasive but the objective of the show is to convey to the viewing audience who Cherry Martinez is as a person by permitting them to sincerely connect with her and the opportunity she is offering to the girls participating in the show.
The show will conclude with one of the girls being crowned with the title of Cherry’s Girl on Top and will be featured in a photo-spread for a prominent magazine. The girls will have gained an invaluable amount of knowledge and credibility following their experiences on the show. Each and every one of them will walk away knowing that Cherry’s guidance will prove to be highly beneficial toward their future accomplishments.
